Fleabot Platforms

I've been doing loads of stuff recently, for the portfolio and on the titan. Titan post to come soon, but here's a painting I've done for the fleabot. It was a real challenge to get it into a scene, matching the perspective and changing the lighting etc. but I'm happy with the result. Also, 300,000 views! Nice. I need to update the blog more!

Custom Escher Gang

Here's my custom Escher gang that I made from Raging Heroes Jailbirds. I've used a mish mash of 40k weapons, Kroot shoulder pads and a whole load of Green Stuff to get them looking more like they belong in the 40K universe. Genestealer Cult [Commission]

Finished this Genestealer cult commission. Had a blast painting them, such cool models! Same idea as before - speed and low price point, just get them on the battlefield. Really pleased with how these came out. Contact me on g.manners@hotmail.com if you want me to paint your army for you. 


Regharge

I made a charging dock for my recharge bot :) More scenes in the works, really enjoying this new jump in my abilities. Always learning! Not toooo happy with this one, but I'm glad I finished it, I almost gave up. Interiors without a 3D Underlay are HARD.

Canyon Pass

I've been working on my portfolio loads recently, and I've finally worked out how to do scene paintings :/ Here's my first full colour painting, inspired by my trip to Morocco this year, and featuring a very old Kitbash that I never did anything with. More of these to come! Also working on an exciting animation project that I can't talk about, but that's ramping up my skills too.

Also painting a Genesteler Cult for a commission, and I've got my custom Escher gang on the go. Also the titan is coming along, slowly but surely!

Skitarii / Ultramarines

I've taken on a few commissions recently, and I've figured out a pretty decent way of painting large quantities of models fairly quickly. Here's some examples. The Skitarii are mine, and the Ultramarines are for a client. 

I think I'm going to offer a 'Tabletop Standard' painting service, that gets the customer a tabletop standard paint job (i.e. basic, but tidy and cost effective), with a fast turnaround and a low price point. Probably need to get together some more examples and get some more commissions finished first but I think it's something that would be really handy for people that want to just get stuff painted to play. Anyway, more on that later - here's the stuff I've been working on.

Jump Racer 'Concept' Sculpt

Here's how the Zbrush concept sculpt is looking at the moment. I worked out all the joints and volumes in 3DS Max, then took into Zbrush to start to work into the shapes using Dynamesh. I believe creating a rough mesh and working out the forms in Dynamesh is called 'concept sculpting'! I've learned loads about Zbrush in the last week or two, really keen to push this to the next level. On to refinement!

Jump Racer Blockout Turntables

Made a quick 3D model to push the design of the Jump Racer forwards a bit. Bit of an exciting development regarding this project that I will divulge a bit later on when things become a bit more concrete! For now, here's the turntable poses.

Warlord Titan WIP 2

I've been working on my Titan on and off for the past 6 months. I left it alone for a bit because the clean up was doing my head in, but one day I decided to just get on with it and I'm glad I did! The legs are looking great and I'm really happy with the colour scheme.



I'm using the same process as my Imperial Knights, but I've added some steps because of the size of the kit, it'll end up looking a bit flat if I use the exact same process.

ZBrush Helmet Sketch

Started messing around with Zbrush - want to learn it properly! This is a Dynamesh sketch that I've animated and rendered 4 different materials in 3DS Max. Then I've masked between the material passes and painted over the whole lot in Photoshop. I actually sculpted the head on this one too, learning more about faces.

Factory Worker

I took the time to finish this guy quickly this week. I'd had the model and renders lying around for a bit but didn't do anything with them for a while. Really happy with how he's turned out. Got some ideas of things I want to do in the future, but working on my portfolio right now!
