Apologies for down time - I've been away for the last month! Will be posting pics from my trip, it was incredible! For now here's some old artwork...

This was the result of the competition I ran over on Instagram, where people had to give me up to ten word descriptions of robots they wanted me to draw for them, and then my students voted on three winners. This is the first winner, and the description was as follows:

'Junkbot made from random parts of cars appliances etc.''

And this is what I drew. These prints are available from my Etsy Shop - head over there now! More prints available soon.

Brighton War Council Website

Hey guys & gals, really excited to announce that the BWC website is up and running. I've been putting it together for the last month or so, and we're really pleased with how it's turning out.

In the coming months we'll be adding battle reports, articles, tutorials, games day write ups, list analysis and all sorts of other cool stuff. I'll be posting up painting tutorials as well as some of our other experts. Head over there to check it out!

1/100 Kallamity's Garbaldy [Juggernaut]

It's been almost a year in the making but I've finally finished this behemoth. I had been working on it on and off and between other projects, primarily because it was such a daunting endeavour and I had to take regular breaks! It also took me quite a while to figure out a process for the painting (which you can find detailed here). Because it's such a special kit I didn't want to just do a normal paint job so I tried a lot of new stuff and learned some really cool techniques, which I was able to refine for my Imperial Knights.

All in all I think it's a bit too weathered, but I'm glad I did it as I learned a lot, and I'm glad I finally got to the end. The reception over on the Facebook page has been fantastic. I think we're on 70,000 people reached at the time of writing, which is insane. I never thought my work would be so widely received.

And this is what I drew.

You can also buy a limited edition digital print over on my Etsy shop here.

Imperial Knight Acheron [Honour]

Finished this bad boy. Very happy with how it's turned out, and I think I've done a better job than on my [Truth]. Learned a lot from these two builds, and now I'm desperate to do a Warlord Titan with all my new knowledge! Post is pic heavy...

Imperial Knight Acheron [Honour] WIP 1 & Gav's Update

Hey guys! I thought I'd post small Gav update along with my Knight progress. I've been doing lots of modelling recently, my Garbaldy is almost done, the Acheron is getting there, I've got a couple of kitbashes on the go and I've also made a dent in my 1000pt Necron army. I also want to start either my 1/100 Metal Gear Rex or my 1/60 PG Strike Rouge (or finish off my Strike Freedom). Excitingly, I've also possibly got a commission in the pipeline for the gargantuan Warlord Titan from Forge World. There's simply no time for all of the fun! Especially with all of the drawing I'm doing at the moment. I'm glad it's summer though, it's shaping up to be a good one so far.

Octo Bot

I've been neglecting the blog a bit recently, partly due to how easy it is to post on Facebook and Instagram, but also because I've been doing a lot of stuff that I don't want to publish yet! There's some cool stuff coming though, so keep checking back. As soon as the competition winners receive their artwork I'll be posting up what I did for them, which I'm really excited about because I'm really pleased with what I produced. For now here's an Octo-Bot that I sketched in Mischief and Photoshop.

Droid Sketches

I watched Chappie the other day and started doing a few droids. Pretty happy with the way my sketches are shaping up but I want to take this idea a bit further and get it away from looking like it's been ripped from the film. Anyway, below is a Mischief sketch and some sketchbook stuff. Mischief is a really cheap sketching program that has layers and brush styles, but also has no pixels and an infinite canvas. Great for just opening up and starting to sketch.

MG 1/100 Astray Ver. Gav [GOLD Frame]

I finally got round to photographing this guy at the weekend. I wanted to do a base for it and make it look a bit more special but I've really lost interest in this kit. The whole thing has been a bit of a pain in the arse to be honest, and I came up against to many issues that I've not experienced on other builds. It's taken me so long, not because I'm slow, but because I just couldn't bring myself to keep working on it at one point! I was very happy with the way the scheme came out, except for the gold on the sword sheaths, I think that should have been grey maybe - there's too much gold on one side. But making the decision to make a lot of the frame parts dark grey instead of gold worked really well. I'm also pleased with the minor mods - I changed the the big sword to make it a bit simpler and with less parts hanging off it, the new backplate to hold the sword and the other hip sword holder for the two smaller swords. Also added some bulk to the rear skirt for proportioning.

Imperial Knight [Truth]

Got round to shooting this. Really happy with how it's turned out, can't wait to paint the other two. Might not do extensive WIPs for them as I just want to get them done, but I'll see how I feel. Also, go check out and follow Brighton War Council, our new gaming group. It's gonna be big! Currently just figuring out the kind of stuff we want to get up on the blog but there's some great stuff going on over there already.

Imperial Knight [Truth] WIP2

Here's the second part of my Imperial Knight work in progress. With all the base colours and decals done, it was all looking a bit too clean so I started bashing it up a bit with some weathering! I wanted to retain that classic wargaming look of highlighted edges but wanted it to look a bit battered and bruised like it's in the middle of a campaign. I took techniques I used on my RX and my Garbaldy and also techniques I used to paint my Deathwing Terminators.

Got round to finishing off this 3D Studio Max kitbash. Again, I've used Vitaly Bugarov's Black Phoenix kit. Super fun playing around with these parts, wish I had a bit more time to make stuff like this! I will say, it is more time consuming than sketching, but you get the 360 degree view around the model, which is really fun.

Imperial Knight [Truth] WIP1

I've had an Imperial Knight kicking around for about a year now, and I've just not done anything with it. If I'm honest, it's because I've had so many other cool projects to work on, I just put it to the back of the queue. That is until we were having one of our Brighton War Council (check out the blog!) beer nights (meet up in a pub, drink beer and talk about Warhammer 40K and painting!) and we got talking about the Forge World Knights that they do. I was just blown away by these models, they look so cool, and I've got a lot more confidence with resin since working on the Garbaldy.

I thought it would be such an awesome idea for an army to have a few normal Knights and then one of these FW monsters heading up the Detachment. I always struggle with the normal sized miniatures, they take an age to paint, and this seemed like a perfect way for me to get an army together so I can start fielding my own stuff at our BWC gaming events.

1/100 Garbaldy - Painting Process

Oooook. So I thought it might be helpful to detail my process with the Garbaldy. Hope someone finds it helpful!

Been doing a lot of work in progress on Instagram and Facebook recently, but I've been neglecting the blog! Soon to come are the Garbaldy tutorial, Astray finished pictures and Helbrute & CSM Chosen finished pictures. For now, here's some sketches I've been doing whilst rendering at work. They go up on Facebook and Instagram, but I thought it would be nice to get them here too.

The second image got quite a lot of love on Instagram, so I'm going to render that one up all nice in photoshop, with some other views maybe. This is all inspired by Darren Quach - Inkworks. Definitely go check it out, it's a great book!

The Stars Lightening My Path

Exceptionally clear night a few weeks ago. Very cold but I wanted to test out my fisheye lens on some long exposures! Happy with the results, but I definitely need practice. Some of these are quite grainy, and not as sharp as I'd like.

Jellyfish Mechs

Some quick sketches I did this morning. I'm gonna render one of them up, I really like the proportions. They were inspired by jellyfish. That is all.

"Just bloody get on with it!"

New painting from one of my maquettes. I want to start putting little stories or characters in my designs, but I'm terrible at drawing people. I think this is a good start and I'll continue in the same vein! This is a piece of work that I did for a tattoo studio here in Brighton. Hopefully they like it, and I'm hoping it will get more people interested in my work. Thanks for looking! As usual, before and after pics below.
