Imperial Knight [Truth]

Got round to shooting this. Really happy with how it's turned out, can't wait to paint the other two. Might not do extensive WIPs for them as I just want to get them done, but I'll see how I feel. Also, go check out and follow Brighton War Council, our new gaming group. It's gonna be big! Currently just figuring out the kind of stuff we want to get up on the blog but there's some great stuff going on over there already.

Imperial Knight [Truth] WIP2

Here's the second part of my Imperial Knight work in progress. With all the base colours and decals done, it was all looking a bit too clean so I started bashing it up a bit with some weathering! I wanted to retain that classic wargaming look of highlighted edges but wanted it to look a bit battered and bruised like it's in the middle of a campaign. I took techniques I used on my RX and my Garbaldy and also techniques I used to paint my Deathwing Terminators.

Imperial Knight [Truth] WIP1

I've had an Imperial Knight kicking around for about a year now, and I've just not done anything with it. If I'm honest, it's because I've had so many other cool projects to work on, I just put it to the back of the queue. That is until we were having one of our Brighton War Council (check out the blog!) beer nights (meet up in a pub, drink beer and talk about Warhammer 40K and painting!) and we got talking about the Forge World Knights that they do. I was just blown away by these models, they look so cool, and I've got a lot more confidence with resin since working on the Garbaldy.

I thought it would be such an awesome idea for an army to have a few normal Knights and then one of these FW monsters heading up the Detachment. I always struggle with the normal sized miniatures, they take an age to paint, and this seemed like a perfect way for me to get an army together so I can start fielding my own stuff at our BWC gaming events.

1/100 Garbaldy - Painting Process

Oooook. So I thought it might be helpful to detail my process with the Garbaldy. Hope someone finds it helpful!

PG 1/60 RX 78-2

Finally got round to photographing this bad boy. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, though obviously there are a few things I would do differently next time. Ultimately what I wanted was a really unique PG RX 78-2, and I don't think there's anything else like this one out there. Although, as I mentioned when I started this thing, I was inspired to paint in this style by Sori Kim's RX, so there are some similarities there.

Anyway, hope you like what I've done with this iconic Mobile Suit. There's a few photos on a darker background as I think it shows some of the details better!

1/144 Linebarrels Of Iron - Vardant [SANDSTONE]

This was a mental health build in between all my big projects! I bought this from FitchenFoo a couple of years ago and forgot all about it until recently. It took a couple of weeks on and off, I'm really pleased with the result. There are some mistakes due to me rushing a bit, but I'm really pleased with how the shading turned out. Post shading on a 1/144 this small was a challenge to say the least. 

PG 1/60 RX 78-2 Weathering Process

As requested, here's every step I took to achieve the weathering look for my RX 78-2. The weathering on the shield is a bit heavier than the rest of the kit, but I figured that the shield is what will be taking the heavy hits, hence the couple of big scratch marks I've put on it. Hopefully this is clear, I'll go into as much detail as I can, but if there are any questions just post them in the comments.

Nearly done! Next are the hands and the weapons. This is just a picture update really but the next and last WIP will be a tutorial on how I have painted this kit, as there have been some requests on here and over on Instagram. Go check out my Instagram by the way, it's @gavinmanners. PG 1/60 RX 78-2 WIP4

Slowly getting there. Just the arms and weapons to go now, and I need to streak and pigment the torso and head. Lots of cool stuff coming up, I just need to get round do finishing all these projects! I'm at a point in my life where I don't really know what I'm doing any more so creativity has taken a big hit recently. Got all these things I want to do but I've just got no motivation :( Anyway, here's some progress.

Finally got round to photographing this. It's been finished for a while but I needed to buy a couple of lamps and some new backdrops (sheets of paper). So glad I did - really happy with the way the photos turned out! 

Not much to say about this - It's been going on a while! Custom built Halberd and Shield - inspired by Dark Souls, which is a game I was playing a lot at the time of this model's inception.
